The original of this song is on Maria Kalaniemi’s (a Finnish accordionist) solo album “ahma”. She gave me the album before its release, and I listened to it many times. Gradually I felt that I would like to sing this song and asked permission. The original melody was recorded with her accordion and I did not realize until I started recording that there were few spaces for breath. ”Kaamos” is the original title of this song in Finnish and it means the time of the year when there is no sun rising. The image is dark, cold, quiet but has hidden power.
